Temazcal, a spiritual purification

To the Maya and their Cosmo-vision, planet Earth is an amazing expression of unfolding life in a continuum creation of non-visible and visible energy forces.

ritual_mayaThe practice of rituals, prayers, and ceremonies accomplish the harmonizing of the energies of God, humans, and the natural world. Through its different rituals, mayans connect the physical world and the spiritual.

At Excellence Riviera Cancun you can experience the ancient ritual of Temazcal, which originated in the early Mexican and Central American cultures. Translated from the native Nahuatl language, “Temazcal” means “house of steam” from the words Temaz for steam and calli for house.

The structure, made from mortar and stone, is symbolic of Mother Nature’s womb. Through the use of steam and healing herbs, the Temazcal ceremony purifies the body and the spirit.

TemazcalIn these steam baths, a group of up to 10 people is escorted by a guide through a personalized 90-minute ritual, which includes a series of cleansing and energy-enhancing steps. In addition to providing renewal for the body, the temazcal is often an experience of emotional release and spiritual purification, leaving bathers at once invigorated and utterly relaxed.

We invite you to participate in this therapeutic, relaxing and mystical journey. Designed to stimulate balance between life, spirit and nature by integrating the spiritual well-being and serenity in the traditional Miile Spa experience.
